Decorate a Clutch Bag with Embroidered Butterflies

Decorate a Clutch Bag with Embroidered Butterflies
Decorate your own faux leather clutch bag with small embroidered butterflies with our Embroidery Craft Kit. You can use it as a pencil case or as a bag to store make-up or toiletries. Follow our step-by-step guide to learn how to master the three embroidery stitches needed to create these decorative butterflies.

Step 1

Print this template and tape it to the fabric from your Embroidery Craft Kit

Step 2

Place a piece of papier-mâché inside the fabric and trace the pattern onto the fabric by poking dots with a sharp pencil. If the markings are too faint, you can twist the pencil a few times in the hole to make them a little clearer.
Step 3

Take the template away and take your needle and embroidery thread from the craft kit. Follow this video tutorial to embroider the butterfly's antennae using French knots.
Step 4

Follow the dots you poked into the fabric and start to sew the antennae and body of the butterfly together with lock stitches. Follow this video tutorial to learn how to master a lock stitch.
Step 5

Use the yellow thread to sew the wings with Mille fleur stitches. Start by inserting the needle from the back between the antennae. Follow this video tutorial to learn how to do a Mille fleur stitch.
Step 6

For the final step nd to finish the design, you need to weave in the ends. You can learn how to do weave the ends with this video tutorial
