This guide will teach you how to create adorable ghosts using self-hardening clay. Once dry, you can place an LED tealight underneath to create a fun Halloween decoration.
Step 1
Turn a jam jar upside down and place a 5cm polystyrene ball on top. Place pieces of masking tape on top so that the ball does not move.
Step 2
Roll out a piece of white clay 2-3 mm thick. Place a roll of tape or a round bowl with a diameter of around 10-12 cm on top of the clay and cut around it with a knife.
Step 3
Place your piece of clay in the middle of the polystyrene ball and shape the folds into place so that they are roughly even. Smooth the edges and uneven areas with a little bit of water.
Step 4
Use the end of a straw to pierce 3 holes in the clay - 2 for the eyes and 1 for the mouth. Make the hole for the mouth slightly elongated by moving the straw slightly up and down.
Step 5
Allow the ghost to dry for 12-24 hours. Once the clay is completely dry, lift the ghost off the ball.
If necessary, use the tip of a straw to make the edges of the eyes and mouth smooth.
Place the ghost on top of an LED tealight.
