Create Halloween Masks using EVA Foam

A picture of 3 foam homemade Halloween masks of a pumpkin, a monster and a bat on a table with other pumpkins and candles.

Spooky season is upon us! Need a last minute costume? Follow these steps and use our Mini Craft Kit Spooky Dress-Up Masks to become Frankenstein's Monster, a pumpkin, or a black bat!

What
you’ll find in your Mini Craft Kit Spooky Dress-Up Masks:

  • EVA foam
  • Elastic cord
  • Glitter EVA foam
  • Glitter glue
  • Glitter clay
  • Marker

What you’ll need that isn’t included in the kit:

  • Scissors
  • A pencil
  • A printer! You'll need the Creativ Craft mask templates with you can download here so you can print them and trace the shapes onto your foam.

Step 1

You can follow these instructions to create all three masks from the template in the link above. Download the PDF and print it. In this guide, we’ll focus on the pumpkin mask, but you can follow the same steps to create the Frankenstein’s Monster or the bat mask as well.

Once you've printed the template, use a pencil to trace the pumpkin shape onto the EVA foam sheet from your Mini Craft Kit Spooky Dress-Up. Make sure you use a sharp pencil so you can pierce holes through the marks on either side of the mask. These holes are for your elastic cord—you can’t wear your mask without it!

Step 2

Ask a parent or grown-up to help with the next part! You’ll need scissors that can cut through EVA foam. Carefully cut along the pencil line you traced until the excess foam falls away and you're left with your pumpkin mask shape.

Take out the stencils from your kit and use your pencil to trace the shape of the pumpkin’s stem onto the green Self-Adhesive Glitter EVA Foam. Once traced, cut it out with your scissors.

Step 3

Take your glue and stick the pumpkin stem onto the foam mask you cut out. Be careful not to remove the backing from the self-adhesive foam—this part will stick out slightly at the top of the mask, and you don’t want it stuck to your forehead! Glue the stem to the top of the pumpkin mask.

Finally, find the elastic cord from your kit and use it to measure around your head. Cut it to size so the mask fits comfortably. Thread the elastic through the two holes on the sides of the mask and tie a double knot at the back.

Tips for Frankenstein’s Monster:

Decorate the green mask with glitter EVA foam and draw a scar with the black marker.

Tip for the black bat mask:

Draw details with red glitter glue. Decorate the black mask with a thin layer of glitter clay.
